Teletherapy

Information about Teletherapy

What is teletherapy?

Teletherapy uses technology such as laptops and tablets, as well as video conferencing software to allow Speech and Language Therapists like me to work with your family remotely.

What do you need?

Access to a laptop or desktop computer however, a tablet-like device such as an iPad can also be used.

You will also need access to a reliable internet connection, a microphone, and a camera. Most new devices now have microphones and cameras in-built.

You need a quiet space for you and your child to work. Depending on your child’s age a work surface like a table is also useful.

Do I need to be present?

In most cases yes. You will need to be present to support their engagement or to participate in parent coaching sessions to learn techniques to help you to facilitate your child’s communication. Other older children may need less support, but you would still need to stay close-by just in case there are any technical difficulties.

Is it secure?

Chatty Children Speech Therapy uses Zoom for teletherapy. Zoom’s website has a published white paper about their security features https://zoom.us/docs/doc/Zoom-Security-White-Paper.pdf

Zoom uses TLS encryption. For further information about Zoom security, please visit https://zoom.us/security

The sessions will also be password protected to increase security.

Pricing

The prices for teletherapy sessions are the same as my visits to homes and schools. Both digital and location-based sessions require an equal level of preparation, resources, and skill. All sessions are delivered to a high quality in line with professional standards.
